Tree Planting Campaign

Tree Planting Campaign

Tree planting with  rural communities in Zimbabwe (photo), 10 years later this same community harvested their woodlot benefitting from their efforts. All it took was a handful of kids, a few community residents, with permission from the village elders and the practical work began on the ground!

Julie Anne believes, “its important to focuss on grassroots, they are the heart of a nation many of whom live directly with the African wildlife. Core focus should be educating our people in sustainable development, supporting self sufficient projects that communities can champion themselves, creating a bridge of understanding and mutual respect between different cultures. Everyone has the right to a decent life and to be treated fairly.

Poverty eradication is a project goal, but ‘poverty ‘ itself is such a degrading word especially within a  rural community”,  a word Julie Anne nor the people of Zimbabwe ever used in the past, “a country that was once the bread basket of Africa.”

Many communities in Africa, particularly Zimbabwe, have benefited through her efforts in the areas of …..

  • conservation
  • lobbying for sustainable community development
  • education campaigns
  • tree planting
  • protection of woodlands
  • organic crop production at village level
  • rhino survival
  • game translocation
  • wild dog conservation
  • anti poaching
