Exploring the Great Soda Lakes of East and Central Africa is one of the greatest ornithological spectacles in the world, particularly for finding the Greater and Lessor Flamingos. Along the lake shores, pink strips of flamingos several miles long can be found. The birds keeled bills design fitted with filtering laminae efficiently feed on tiny organisms. |
| Birding Safaris - The best bird watching hot spots! Southern Africa over 900 species. East Africa approx. 1000 species | |
| Boat Safaris – Cruise along rivers and lakes past prolific bird life, and view the game as it comes down to drink, both marine and terrestrial. Motor boats are used to explore the deeper channels that are too deep for mokoros, giving access to large lagoons. Environmental consideration – Motor boats are noisier and disturb the wildlife, their wake can be harmful in areas where there are nesting birds eg the African skimmers nest on sand bars/banks. However, boat trips can be good providing they are run considerately – encourage your guide to go slowly, you will see so much more as a result. | |
